Harrison School of Design Terms and Conditions

General

  1. HARRISON USA LLC (a Delaware registered company) whose principal office is located at 14850 Quorum Dr., Suite 450, Dallas, TX 75254.

  3. Rules specific to this competition, information on how to enter and prize information is displayed for each country, the United Kingdom and United States, at https://www.weareharrison.com/schoolofdesign/. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. 
  4. If there is any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and anything else that refers to this competition, these Terms and Conditions will prevail. 
  5. Harrison is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party. 

Who Can Enter

  1. Entry is open to university/college students in the United States going into their 3rd or 4th year of a CIDA or NAAB accredited Bachelor of Interior Design, Bachelor of Architecture, or Master of Architecture program. 
  2. Applicants must have Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign experience as well as knowledge of either AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp. 
  3. To qualify to enter the Competition, entrant must attend school within the US. The address provided with your competition entry (“Entry”) may be used to send any prizes or correspondence regarding Competition. If the entrant’s address changes at any time during the competition period, it is the entrant’s responsibility to inform Harrison of the change.
  4. Harrison reserves the right to request winners to provide proof of identity, proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity or proof of registration ownership in order to claim a prize. Proof of identification, residency, and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of Harrison. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered. 
  5. Current employees’ and recent former employees’ and their immediate families and anyone otherwise connected with the organization or judging of the competition, i.e. prize sponsors, press, wholesalers & their agents are not eligible to enter the Competition.
  6. By entering the Competition, you hereby warrant that all information submitted by you is true, current, and complete. Harrison reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants.
  7. Harrison assumes that by reading the publication or by using the website and entering the Competition (and you warrant that) you are aged 18 or over or, if you are under 18, that your parents have consented to your entry into the Competition and these Rules.
  8. Harrison reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of the Rules.
  9. In the event that any entrant is disqualified from the Competition, Harrison in its sole discretion may decide whether a replacement should be selected. In this event, any further entrant will be selected on the same criteria as the original entrant and will be subject to these Rules.

When to Enter

  1. The competition entry period, whereby entries will be received, commences on 3 June 2024 and concludes on 31 July 2024. Entries must be completed prior to the competition close date and time. 
  2. The time of entry will be the time the online entry is received by Harrison, not at the time of transmission by the entrant.
  3. Harrison accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, or misdirected entries. 

How to Enter

  1. The details of how to enter the competition are set out on the Harrison website at https://www.weareharrison.com/schoolofdesign/ as well as via press release distributed, and social media posts at @designedbyharrison. 
  2. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition. 
  3. Entrants may enter the competition by submitting their entries at https://www.weareharrison.com/schoolofdesign/ .
  4. Entrants are required to take full responsibility for the content of their entry and for ensuring that their entry complies with these terms and conditions.  
  5. Entries must be the entrant’s original work. Harrison reserves the right to verify, or to require the entrant to verify it is their original work. If an entry cannot be verified to Harrison’s satisfaction, the entry will be deemed invalid. 
  6. An entrant’s entry must include:
    1. Resume/CV and references
    2. A complete response to the brief, details below.
    3. About you – 300-500 words on your background, and why you should win the competition. 
    4. 500-word research document, laying out the thought process and explains how you created and what inspired the design of the brand.
    5. Floor Plan with Furniture
    6. Mood boards
    7. Three (3) 3D Visuals and/or walk-through of the space
    8. Digital materials board
    9. Thought and sketch process
    10. Branding for restaurant concept: logo, signage, menu, etc.
  7. Any entry that is made on behalf of an entrant by a third party will be invalid, unless the entrant requires the assistance of a third party to enter. 

Number of Entries Permitted

  1. Only one entry per person. Only one prize will be awarded per person.
  2. Entrant must attend school/college/university within the US.
  3. Competition entries must be made in the manner and by the closing date specified on the Competition. Failure to do so will disqualify the entry. 
  4. Harrison reserves the right to cap the number of entries. Once the limit of entries has been reached, the competition entry system will be closed. A minimum of 10 US applications are necessary or this competition is void.

Draw and Notification of Winner

  1. The winner will be the individual(s) whose design matches the brief, truly showcases their skills and knowledge, and goes beyond the boundaries of design. 
  2. Once the winner is announced, the decision is final, and Harrison will not enter into correspondence regarding the competition result, or any other decisions Harrison makes in connection with any entrants. 
  3. Should the entrant’s contact details change during the competition period, it is the entrant’s responsibility to notify Harrison. 
  4. Claims for prizes must be made in the manner and within the timeframe specified when the winner(s) are notified. Failure to claim a prize within this time or in the manner specified may result in withdrawing the prize from the winner and the selection of an alternate winner.
  5. Applicant is responsible to ensure they have a valid work visa prior to internship.

Data Protection and Publicity 

  1. Winners may be requested to take part in promotional activity and Harrison reserves the right to use the names and imagery of winners in any publicity, and images, drawings and details of their designs. This includes but is not limited to, press releases and media relations – both print and online – imagery of the winner and their designs, interviews – written, telephone and in-person, and social media.
  2. Any personal data relating to the winner, or any other entrants will not be distributed or used for any reason other than to contact entrants directly regarding the competition only.
  3. Any personal data relating to entrants will not be disclosed to a third party without the individual’s consent.
  4. Data relating to entrants will be retained by Harrison for a reasonable period after the competition closes to assist Harrison to operate competitions in a consistent manner and to deal with any inquiries on the competition.

Prize on Offer

  1. Cash prizes will be awarded to first ($1,000.00), second ($500.00) and third place ($250.00). The first-place recipient will also receive a two-month internship at Harrison in Dallas, TX 6/1-7/30/25.  
  2. The prize is as stated, and no alternatives will be offered. Transport and accommodation will not be provided by Harrison as part of the prize package. The prizes are non-transferable. Prizes are subject to availability, and we reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.
  3. Prizes are awarded at the discretion of Harrison and no prizes will be awarded as a result of improper actions by or on behalf of any entrant.

Harrison’s Liability 

  1. Harrison cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury, or disappointment suffered by any entrant entering the competition or as a result of accepting any prize. Harrison is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment or software, failure of any email or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant’s or any other person’s computer or mobile telephone related to or resulting from participation in the competition. 

Governing Jurisdiction 

  1. The competition and these terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with American law. You and Harrison irrevocably agree that the Unites States’ courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any claim or matter or to settle any dispute which may arise out of or in connection with these Terms & Conditions and that accordingly any proceedings may be brought in such courts.

Copyright, Statutory Guarantees, Waiver, and Liability

  1. Harrison reserves the right to amend, cancel, or suspend this competition if an event beyond their control corrupts or affects the administration security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the competition. 
  2. Harrison will disqualify any individual who has tampered with the entry process or any other aspect of this competition.
  3. Harrison assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
