Taking center stage at Wheaton Mall in Maryland is the third Harrison-designed Nando’s to open on the East Coast of America, and it is one of the edgiest designs yet. Located in a busy shopping center and facing considerable competition from neighboring restaurants, this scheme had to stand out from the rest and appeal to a young, dynamic customer group.
The resulting design transforms a bland, oblong space into a thriving chicken restaurant with funk and style. A cellular patterned ceiling wraps down the wall and onto the floor to integrate the entire space. Geometric metal screening provides zones and dimension while injections of bright and earthy colors hint towards the deliberate African theming.
