One of our latest Nando’s is at the newly revamped Odyssey Pavilion, which is close to the SSE Arena in Belfast.
The design of this restaurant was inspired by the details of traditional South African crafts, especially the texture, materials, and patterns of jewellery. The unit has a vast ceiling height at the front which faces out to the main pedestrian approach to SSE arena complex, so an important aspect of the design was creating interest from far away as well as from inside the restaurant.
One of the key features is a curved high-level planter that wraps around a cork clad column with a radial rope detail which references Belfast’s history of rope making. We also added a suspended bead feature designed in collaboration with Mash T Design Studio, who’s contemporary beaded light shades can be seen elsewhere in the design. The 4.5m tall, 3 tiers structure made from hundreds of wooden beads creates a bold statement in the shopfront but also gives diners sat below it a kaleidoscope view of the craft on a supersized scale.
We’re delighted to be opening such a stunning new restaurant at the new Belfast Odyssey complex, we’ve all really enjoyed working with the super creative and talented Harrison team.
