The design for Nando’s Burnley was primarily inspired by the stunning natural landscape of South Africa, with a specific focus on the country’s Savanna Woodland and the native plants and creatures which give life to this unique geographical region.
Throughout the interior, organic textures combined with a warm earthy palette serve as a nod to the natural world with finishes including a bespoke plaster render with an elephant-skin effect, a bark-like cork and terracotta accents inspired by the Savanah’s dusty red terrain.
Aside the material selection for the casa, colourful upholstered accents and vibrant art pieces establish a richer and livelier layer to the design to create an interior that is fresh, inviting and true to the Nando’s roots.
The design process involved collaboration with various South African designers who manufactured beautiful bespoke pieces to tie in with the rest of the interior. The team at Ashanti design created vibrant custom pendants which serve as a focal point over the central tables in the space and the Karl chair by Guideline design was powder-coated in custom colours to tie in with the Casa’s primary colour palette. Other features include stylish brass pendants by Douglas & Company, beaded WC mirrors by Sithabe African Craft and a fantastic geometric pattern designed by Bonolo Chepape.
The Casa would not be complete without its abundance of plants positioned throughout the interior which helps to bring the essence of the Savanna Woodland to Burnley’s urban landscape.
