A Golden Take on the Fogo Flame
From early sketches to material exploration, brand design translates Fogo de Chão’s story of fire and churrasco into a distinctive collectible.
Crafted in the Details
The double-sided coaster uses custom graphic design to bring together two icons central to the Fogo story. Crossed gaucho knives celebrate the craft and tradition of churrasco, while the Fogo flame represents the fire at the heart of the brand. A translucent, fire-like stone is inset into both sides, adding a jewel-like focal point and bringing warmth and color to the metallic finish.
Contrasting polished and matte textures create depth across the surface, allowing the radiating details, sculpted imagery and flame motif to shift with the light. Together, these details turn a piece of promotional design into something intended to be kept and displayed.
Designed to Be an Experience
The custom packaging design was considered with the same attention to detail as the coaster itself. A soft-touch black presentation box creates a dramatic backdrop, finished with gold foil debossing for an understated sense of occasion.
Inside, a bespoke print design completes the reveal. Gold foil sweeps across one side of the insert in a pattern inspired by dancing flames, while the reverse congratulates each recipient on receiving their 2026 Golden Coaster. The result is an unboxing experience that builds anticipation while reinforcing the exclusivity of one of only five pieces awarded.
More Than a Giveaway
The Golden Coaster demonstrates how restaurant branding can extend far beyond a logo or physical space. By translating Fogo’s story into material, texture, symbolism and presentation, Harrison turned a promotional moment into a memorable brand experience.
It is a small object with a much bigger purpose: creating connection, reinforcing identity and giving guests something tangible to associate with the Fogo de Chão brand.
One of the most rewarding parts of this project was seeing how the storytelling can shape high-concept design. Inspired by the traditional gaucho, we drew from their customs and motifs, using the flame as a guiding light and decorative knives as a nod to the heritage and craftsmanship that make Fogo de Chão unique.
Material, color and finish studies refine the Golden Coaster’s visual identity design, translating Fogo de Chão’s heritage into every detail.
A precision-cut insert frames the Golden Coaster within its presentation box, turning the reveal into a considered unboxing experience.
