A storied revival in the heart of Farnham

In the heart of Farnham, Surrey, The Tellers Arms blends heritage architecture with contemporary pub and hotel design. Once a 1930s neo-classical bank, this landmark has been transformed into a vibrant Young’s pub, featuring nine new boutique bedrooms and a rooftop terrace—each space curated to evoke a sense of wonder and discovery.

Weaving Stories Through Interior Design

Every detail within The Tellers Arms is deliberately chosen – and tells a story – drawing from Farnham’s storied past—Bishop’s Meadows, the town’s famed white clay, and the legacy of its original bank architecture. Inside, warm textures and layered natural materials create a welcoming atmosphere, while bespoke interiors and original features like fireplaces and the historic Teller’s clock connect guests to the building’s origins. Wooden herringbone flooring, Victorian tiling, and elegant chandeliers blend seamlessly with bright, contemporary decor, conjuring a space that feels both timeless and fresh.

Orchestrating a Seamless Transformation

The transformation of The Tellers Arms was meticulously project managed from concept to completion. Every detail—from the statement penny-tiled bar to the handcrafted bedroom designs inspired by Farnham’s surroundings—was executed with precision and care. Each of the nine boutique bedrooms nods to local heritage, featuring characterful touches and modern comforts, all sourced from local suppliers to support the community.

A Guest Experience, Beyond the Ordinary Pub

The Tellers Arms is more than a beautifully restored pub—it’s a wonderfully curated guest experience. This seamless blend of heritage and innovation makes The Tellers Arms a standout destination for those seeking premium pub dining, boutique accommodation, and immersive design in one of Surrey’s most historic towns.

Key Features

Reclaimed feature lighting and timber paneling was added to bring original architectural features to life. Existed cornice and frieze was painted in rich colours to further bring to life original ceiling details.
Harrison work hard to source the very best features for interiors, ones that really add impact and relevance to the storytelling.
The existing fireplace was uncovered and restored as a feature within the dining area.
This beautiful fireplace was repurposed from another Young’s site and expertly incorporated into the dining area. High-back seating was also reclaimed from other sites and reupholstered to match the interiors.
Brickwork was added to give an authentic feel, and reclaimed wall lights set off the artworks which were carefully curated to elevate the history of the local Farnham area.
Reclaimed parquet flooring adds a unique and tactile character to the bar area. Stunning arched rear wall area was designed to emphasize the height, space and scale of the bar, and echo the window features that sit opposite.
White clay was dug in Farnham Park and shipped via the Thames to local villages to be used to produce drinking vessels. This room brings to life the tones of the white clay.

We are immensely proud of what we have achieved at the Tellers Arms. We feel we have showcased the rich history of the building itself and brought it back to its full potential. Each piece of furniture, design, and little details are selected to add to the character of the 1930s building.
