The Windmill
The design for the bar, restaurant and individual boutique bedrooms was inspired by local history and unique Victorian architecture, our aim was bringing the outside inside through optimising Victorian design detailing, the natural light from the conservatory enhanced by a bold planting scheme.
The Domed area was an amazing space, where we optimised the height of the space using huge chandelier with a big backlit display to the end of the room to create interest and feature seating down the centre of the room. The Conservatory had a green wall, planting and big feature lights from the rooflight to create a richer atmosphere offering a continuation of the seating from the dome area as well as a nod to inside/outside space link to outside.
The external areas, has several different zones offering formal/classic style seating areas for dining area (outside the conservatory) and more casual bar/casual/drinking areas outside the bar, and the Burger Shack which was more delivered colourful.

The Windmill was originally a pub with 29 hotel rooms, Harrison spearheaded the refurbishment of the existing rooms as well as the design and build of 13 extra rooms, including the conversion of staff quarters and a sizeable extension. The floor plan was multi-level with varying roof heights and some complex room layouts located along a series of corridors and landings. We created a series of unique, high quality room designs, which complimented the architecture of the building and maximised the floor space to accommodate feature bathrooms.
