Tucked into the fabric of South London, The White Bear is a stunning example of how a traditional pub can integrate modern design to invite a whole new generation of guest.

Reclaimed fireplace and furniture reinforce the authenticity of the design.

Honouring the Past Whilst Inspiring the Present

Our creative direction for the interior design and branding began with a question: how do we preserve the spirit of a historic public house while making it feel alive, relevant, and irresistibly engaging? The answer lay in balance—retaining original features like the hand-carved wooden bar and intimate snug, while layering in fresh design elements that elevate the entire experience.

Upstairs, a popular theatre space adds depth, while the transformed garden restaurant introduces a serene, almost otherworldly atmosphere. Natural textures, ambient lighting, and a refined palette of earth tones create a calming counterpoint to the bustle of London life.

Design That Tells A Story

Eclectic artwork, vintage bric-a-brac and thoughtful colour palettes were curated to reflect the pub’s rich history and vibrant community. Our design choices prioritise sustainability, evident in the reactivation of the garden’s beehives and the use of locally sourced materials.

The White Bear offers a dedicated dining area which has an open kitchen serving popular modern English seasonal cuisine sourced locally. It boasts a large beer garden which is also home to three bee hives!

Recognition Through Design

The White Bear’s transformation was recognised as a finalist in the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards —a reflection of the vision, detail, and precision brought to every stage of the project.
