The Angel Hotel is an imposing Georgian Coaching House dating back to the 12th Century. The Gough Hotel Group knew remodelling their bar and restaurant experience would attract both hotel guests and a local audience.
Here was an opportunity to exploit what works best in any durable design, storytelling. The hotel is famed for its association with the writer Charles Dickens, who stayed there three times in the 19th century, referencing the hotel, then a Coaching House, in his book ‘The Pickwick Papers’.
So the whole concept became underpinned by a brand strategy of ‘fables and tales’, the foundation for creative decisions made for all brand, graphic touchpoints and interior design.
Storytelling creates escape, substance and meaning. It creates authenticity which people are seeking more of today.
We are confident that our new look and feel will impress returning guests.
The Angel Hotel is now a genuine destination for people coming from further afield.
