In Beaumont, Texas, we partnered with Mellow Mushroom to transform a former chain restaurant site into a dynamic destination for stone-baked pizza and bold brand experience through architecture and interior design services. The project was an opportunity to reimagine the existing structure and bring the Mellow Mushroom ethos to life through immersive hospitality design.

From the outset, our studio’s goal was to create something that would energize the local dining scene, drawing in guests with visual impact and expressive storytelling. The design brief called for a space that would reflect the brand’s playful, eclectic spirit while aligning with operational needs and the local community.

We started with the exterior architecture. A custom-designed canopy with a glowing sputnik light fixture beams over the adjacent highway, turning the building into a beacon for passersby. A color-changing LED portal signals entry and establishes a bold sense of arrival. Add in painting the brick, and the new features become the key elements in the high-impact exterior transformation.

Custom sputnik fixtures reinforce the restaurant’s identity through expressive lighting design that adds energy and atmosphere to the guest experience.

Inside, our team brought Mellow Mushroom’s signature personality into every corner. The interior architecture includes a retro-style bar design and dining spaces infused with character by custom murals inspired by vintage Vegas, an unexpected twist that invites guests to linger. The space balances theatricality with thoughtful circulation, creating a seamless guest journey from entrance to exit.

Restaurant design is most powerful when it blends imagination with intent, when it merges brand storytelling with functional precision and architectural expertise. By reshaping a recognizable site into a memorable fast-casual dining environment, we helped Mellow Mushroom expand its Texas footprint with confidence and character.
