For over a decade, Chipotle has been cultivating something quietly powerful in the UK — a mission-driven brand rooted in real ingredients, sustainability, and a belief in doing things differently.

When Chipotle US approached us to reimagine their new Westfield flagship, we saw an opportunity not just to focus on the interior design of the space, but to transform it into something culturally relevant for the UK market – with purpose and wonder.

While grounded in the brand’s US design language, we evolved the customer experience for the UK customer, introducing richer textures.

Striking Exterior Design Inspired by Chipotle’s California Roots

To signal a new era for Chipotle in the UK, we reinterpreted an art installation from Chipotle’s California headquarters into a bold Corten steel façade. Perforated and backlit, this exterior feature draws attention and sparks curiosity in the heart of Europe’s busiest shopping centre, making the restaurant an inviting urban landmark.

Evolving the Interior for a UK Audience

Inside, the design transformation continues. While grounded in the brand’s US design language, we evolved the customer experience for the UK customer, introducing richer textures, raised ceiling heights, and warmer materials that create a more welcoming, human space. Spider lights — echoing the brand’s roots — replace track lighting, casting a softer, more intimate dining environment.

Sustainable Materials and Authentic Local Touches

Everything is intentional. Locally (UK) sourced brick and leather bring authenticity and sustainability into the fold. The flow of the layout encourages ease, movement, and rhythm — just like the kitchen theatre behind the counter.

A New Benchmark for Chipotle’s UK Expansion

This flagship is more than just a QSR restaurant. It’s a renewed expression of the brand, developed in its values, design insight, and cultural adaptation — turning functional fast-casual dining into memorable and emotionally resonant.

As Chipotle expands across the UK, this new flagship signals more than growth. It’s a symbol of what’s possible when a brand dares to show up differently — to take what’s already good and transform it into something unforgettable.
