Velvet Taco, Houston

Harrison converted this once prominent eyesore into a building that Velvet Taco and the City of Houston could be proud of. Formerly a lowbrow lingerie shop, now stands a dynamic, interesting restaurant which to dine on Americas best tacos.

The original Googie architectural styling of the stone columns was retained, while overlaying industrial elements and modern neon signage to attract visitors from the highway above. A covered roof top patio with misters and fans accommodates extra seating. The interior is vibrant, fun and has subtle tongue in cheek nods to the previous tenant such as brocade wallcovering; if one looks closely, they will discover radial fishnet legs.

Brand identity/Interior design/Architecture

Harrison has been an excellence resource for Velvet Taco. We brought in Harrison to help us grow after a thorough review of companies to re-energize and create a brand platform for visibility, and the opportunity to develop an agenda for design thinking and strategy in our restaurant buildings. Harrison has delivered a level of excellence and research that has been a great value, as well as positioning our organization as a leading restaurant in relevant strategic design. Harrison has exceled on projects that are focused defining the future of the innovation and design while building brand awareness through design and ultimately educating the consumer on Velvet Taco benefits. I highly recommend them to anyone serious about taking their growth to the next level.
