This forward-thinking brand showed how to flex their current operating model to optimize take out sales in a busy urban area concentrated by offices. This was the first time Nando’s trialed this low footprint design. Harrison proactively worked with Nando’s to refine the operating model, cookline, guest flow and waiting area. We combined operational efficiencies with a highly interesting restaurant design that’s oozes personality and celebrates the South African heritage through artwork curation and materiality to bring a conventional office shell to life.
Another big challenge was to confidently showcase the brand presence on the high street due to considerable competition from neighboring restaurants. Harrison created a key statement in developing a dynamic undulating wood ceiling feature thoughtfully illuminated to provide a dramatic statement to attract the Peri-Peri lovers of Virginia.
