Terracotta Italian Kitchen is built around a simple idea: creating a place to pause, breathe, and reconnect even in the middle of a busy travel hub. Inspired by the spirit of Lascia Fare!, the brand invites guests to let go of the rush and step into something warmer, calmer, and more familiar. In collaboration with HMSHost now renamed Avolta, Terracotta introduces a more heartfelt and homely food and beverage experience to Stansted Airport one that is rooted in authenticity, generosity, and the rituals of Italian home cooking.

A busy space created to feel warm, comfortable and inviting.

Wherever your eyes take you, there are small details to grab your attention.

A Story of the Modern Italian Traveller

This is not a traditional Italian restaurant. Terracotta is imagined as the home of a modern-day Italian traveller shaped by journeys, memories, and a deep connection to food and family. An expatriate host, welcoming you to their kitchen table, encouraging you to relax, share, and enjoy the simple pleasures of eating well. The brand narrative is driven by storytelling rather than stereotype. Italian culture is expressed through warmth, openness, and the quiet confidence of knowing that great food and drink doesn’t need to shout.

A Journey Through the Home

The interior unfolds like a lived-in home. Guests move from the terrace to the hallway, into the living room, and finally to the heart of the space, the kitchen. Each zone offers a different atmosphere while maintaining a sense of intimacy and belonging, revealing layers of personality as you move through the space.
Materials and textures are chosen with care. Terracotta tones reference traditional earth cooking methods, grounding the space in warmth and authenticity. Feature terracotta tiles appear across the terrace, bar front, and walls, creating a calm, neutral backdrop for bolder patterns, upholstery, and colour a subtle nods to Nonna’s home, reinterpreted for today’s guests.

Details That Tell a Story

Everywhere you look, there are moments of discovery. Travel cases holding menus. Framed family photographs sit alongside postcards, books, and collected objects. Hand sketches of iconic buildings, polaroids of journeys past, and familiar domestic details blur the line between travel and home.
These elements are not decorative for their own sake. They exist to create emotional connection gentle reminders of places visited, meals shared, and the comfort of belonging, wherever you are in the world.

A Moment of Calm in a Busy World

In the chaos of modern travel, Terracotta offers something rare: a sense of sanctuary. A place that feels nurturing rather than transactional. Where guests are nourished not just by food, but by atmosphere, care, and intention.
Lascia Fare! is much more than a tagline. It is the guiding principle behind the brand designed to create an experience that counteracts the stress of travel and replaces it with warmth, familiarity, and ease. A place to arrive, before you depart.

Harrison and the team have delivered a stunning brand and interior design for ‘Terracotta Italian Kitchen’ at Stansted Airport. I’m really delighted with their creative work and how it brings together the operational processes, storytelling & the interior design perfectly. Richard was incredibly flexible and delivered everything so quickly and I’m extremely thankful for it!
