With over three decades of experience in the architectural and design industry, Dean has dedicated his career to creating remarkable spaces within the hospitality sector. He began his professional journey in conservation architecture, which laid a strong foundation for his transition into hospitality design. Dean’s passion for art, technology, and geography has guided him through an exciting evolution, starting in the vibrant world of nightclubs and expanding into the design of wine bars, premium restaurants, dance clubs, and casual dining establishments across the UK and internationally.
A highlight of Dean’s career has been his enduring relationship with Nandos, where he has had the pleasure of designing over 350 restaurants since Harrison’s first project together in 1999. The collaboration with such a beloved brand has enriched Dean’s professional journey and forged lasting friendships.
Dean’s experience spans across diverse projects – ranging from large corporate hotels like the NEC Metro in Birmingham, accommodating 1,000 patrons, to historic boutique hotels such as The Angel in Bury St Edmund’s. Additionally, he has a wealth of experience designing casual dining restaurants that prioritize comfort and accessibility, ensuring vibrant and inviting spaces that enhance the dining experience.
At Harrison, Dean leads multi-disciplinary teams, developing innovative design concepts, and managing relationships with clients, ensuring that each project aligns with brand strategies and exceeds expectations. Dean is committed to sustainable practices and has gained valuable international experience that informs his adaptive design approach. His ultimate goal is to make everyone’s life just a little bit better while they are enjoying their experiences in the hospitality world.
