The Tellers Arms

A storied revival in the heart of Farnham

In the heart of Farnham, The Tellers Arms brings new life to a former 1930s neo-classical bank, reimagined as a vibrant Young’s pub with nine boutique bedrooms and a rooftop terrace. Heritage architecture and contemporary hospitality come together to create a place rooted in history, yet confidently of today. Our approach was not simply to restore the building, but to unlock its character by shaping spaces that invite curiosity, reward attention, and feel purposeful at every turn.

Stories Built into the Detail

Every design decision at The Tellers Arms carries meaning. References are drawn from Farnham’s past, Bishop’s Meadows, the town’s distinctive white clay, and the building’s original banking hall, all translated into a warm, layered interior language.
Natural materials, bespoke joinery, and original features such as fireplaces and the historic teller’s clock anchor the design in its setting. Wooden herringbone floors, Victorian tiling, and statement chandeliers sit comfortably alongside lighter, contemporary elements, creating a space that feels both timeless and fresh.

Orchestrating a Seamless Transformation

The project was led from concept through to completion with a clear focus on craft, quality, and cohesion. From the penny-tiled bar to the handcrafted bedroom interiors, every element was delivered with precision and intent.
Each of the nine bedrooms draws inspiration from Farnham’s surroundings, combining characterful details with modern comfort. Where possible, materials and furnishings were sourced locally, supporting regional makers while reinforcing a strong sense of local identity and place.

A Guest Experience, Beyond the Ordinary Pub

The Tellers Arms is more than a restored building. It is a considered warm, guest experience, one that blends heritage and innovation without compromise. From relaxed pub dining to boutique accommodation, all the spaces work together seamlessly, creating a destination that feels welcoming, distinctive, and quietly memorable. A place shaped by history, designed for today, and built to relax and be enjoyed.

Key Features

Reclaimed feature lighting and timber paneling was added to bring original architectural features to life.
Harrison work hard to source the very best features for their interiors, ones that really add impact and relevance to the storytelling.
The existing fireplace was uncovered and restored as a feature within the dining area.
This beautiful fireplace was repurposed and expertly incorporated into the dining area. High-back seating was also reclaimed from other sites and reupholstered to match the interiors.
Brickwork was added to give an authentic feel, and reclaimed wall lights set off the artworks which were carefully curated to elevate the history of the local Farnham area.
Reclaimed parquet flooring adds a unique and tactile character to the bar area. Stunning arched rear wall area was designed to emphasize the height, space and scale of the bar, and echo the window features that sit opposite.
White clay was dug in Farnham Park and shipped via the Thames to local villages to be used to produce drinking vessels. This room brings to life the tones of the white clay.

We are immensely proud of what we have achieved at the Tellers Arms. We feel we have showcased the rich history of the building itself and brought it back to its full potential. Each piece of furniture, design, and little details are selected to add to the character of the 1930s building.
